A Note To Our Volunteers

Thank you in advance for being willing to volunteer for this big day. This is a race that brings out families, friends, and our community to enjoy running or walking together as we all experience better health. Your cheers and your smiles will make all of the difference for the participants. Below you can find details for your volunteer stations along with other information regarding the race. 5K Course Map

Half Marathon Course Map

Live Well Half Marathon, Free 5k and 1 mile fun run Pricing:

Half marathon: $55 early-bird (Through February 4), $65 regular, $75 on race day

5K & 1-Mile: FREE (but still requires registration)

Pre-Race Day Packet Pickup: Thursday & Friday, March 7 and 8, 12:00pm – 6pm

Times:
Race Day  Registration/check in: 6:30- 8:00 am

Half marathon start: 7:30 AM (prompt)
5K start: 9:00 AM (prompt)
1-Mile start: 8:30 AM (prompt)

Awards ceremony: 10:00 AM

Top 3 male and top 3 female finishers for the 5k for each age group will receive medals as follows:
Ages 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60

All half marathon participants will receive finisher medals

Top 3 overall male and female marathon finishers will also receive a trophy

Live Well Half Marathon, Free 5k and 1 mile fun run Courses:

Both the 5K course and the Half Marathon courses are USATF certified.

The half marathon course will have water stops and porta-potties along the course.

There is a 3:30 time limit for the half marathon. This equates to approximately at 15 minute pace per mile minimum. Those who are not able to make this cutoff are encouraged to participate in the 5K.

The 5K course will have one water stop along the course.

Signage:

Directional signs for 5k only have a white colored background

Directional signs for the half marathon are BRIGHT YELLOW

Directional signs for the 1 Mile Fun Run are the blue colored Signs.

You will be able to copy and paste exact GPS coordinates into Google Maps to know where to go.

3. Review Your Volunteer Station Overview

PRE RACE TEAMS

Set Up Crew: Setting up booths for vendors, DJ, awards ceremony, race day check in, decorations, tents, refreshments, etc. Also, placing water at different water stations on the course if needed

Location: Town Commons Amphitheater: 105 E 1st St, Greenville, NC 27858

Pre-Race Day Registration: This is the first stop for runners as they prepare to run our race as they pick up their race packet and prepare for the race! Duties include organizing/handing out shirts, preparing goodie bags, assisting runners with finding their bib number, greeting participants with smiles and answering questions/providing race information. Position may require some light lifting up to 30 lbs.

Race Day Registration: This is to help volunteers get checked in and ready to start the day. It will also help participants to retrieve their bibs and their race packets. Race day registration volunteers will also be able to tell the runners where the start of the race will take place just incase runners ask while picking up packets.

MID RACE TEAMS

Direction and Cheering Station: Duties include directing runners where to go, screaming, cheering, laughing, fun signs and anything that makes the runners smile. Great for small groups to participate in. Feel free to bring any noise makers such as cowbells, whistles, blow horns etc. 

Location: Arrive at assigned station. Use Google Maps to input coordinates for precise location. 

Water Stations: Duties include setting up the station, filling and stacking bottles of water and Gatorade, restocking bottles throughout the course of the morning, handing beverages to runners as they come by, and finally cleaning up the area when the last runner passes. Also provide moral support and encouragement as runners pass by.

Location: Arrive at assigned station. Use Google Maps to input coordinates for precise location.

Floater: Must be available and willing to assist with a wide range of tasks that may pop up throughout the duration of the event. This could include anything from assisting with participant registration and packet pickup to providing support at aid stations or helping with course marshaling. Floater volunteers may also be called upon to assist with crowd control, provide directions to participants and spectators, or lend a hand with setup and breakdown of event equipment and signage.

POST RACE TEAMS

Post-Race Area: Be the first to greet runners when they cross the finish line and help to distribute water, food, and give directions for post race activities. Help distribute medals to half marathon runners

Location: Arrive at race finish Line at the corner of  Evans and 1st Street

Tear Down Crew: Duties include taking down signs, moving stalls, picking up trash from the surrounding area and of course picking up signs from along the race course. We want to leave the city of Greenville as clean as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Check-in begins at 6:30 am to 8:30 am at the amphitheater at Town Common on E 1st Street Greenville, NC.  Unless there is thunder and lighting we will have the race rain or shine.

Half Marathon is at 7:30 am HEATHER NAVY BLUE (it looks gray) T-Shirts and BLUE bibs.

The 1-mile fun run starts at 8:30 am, LIGHT BLUE T-Shirts and NO bibs.

The 5k race starts at 9:00 am, LIGHT BLUE T-Shirts and WHITE bibs.

Athletic wear, dress in layers so you can remove any as you warm up.

Yes there are 4 water stations available on the Half Marathon course and 1 for the 5k course.  Additional water and snacks will be at the finish line area under the Nutrition tent.

If you need any help during the race please direct your attention to the volunteers who will be in ORANGE T-Shirts or (if it rains) BLUE ponchos. We also have a dedicated ambulance on site for emergencies along with local police officers.

Yes, the awards ceremony will be held at the amphitheater at Town Common on E 1st Street Greenville, NC at 10 am.

Yes, both the half marathon and 5k are USATF certified.

4th Street Parking Deck – Free parking on Saturdays

  • Please arrive early so you can be at the start line on time. 
  • There will also be water and snacks at the end of the race located under the Nutrition tent. 
  • There will be portable toilets on the half marathon course. 
  • There are other bathrooms located at Town Commons in the building next to the playground. 
  • The race will happen rain or shine! If there is severe weather we will communicate through email and our social media.
